Ad Guidelines
GENERAL ADVERTISING SPECIFICATIONS
- All creative must contain the advertiser's name or URL.
- Ad creatives may not mimic news story listings - this includes
using similar page colors, fonts, and numbered listings, or the use
of the word "listing" in the creative (*) or otherwise fall
under one or more categories of "Prohibited Content" set
forth below.
- Ad creatives may not mimic the look and feel of page content.
- Ad creatives may not use fake search boxes.
- All HTML, .gif, .jpg and simple rich media* creative formats are
permitted on the basis that the webmaster deems that it performs acceptably.
- No animation or multiple image graphics are allowed.
- Ad creatives cannot launch new browser windows when served.
- Ad creatives cannot launch multiple browser windows upon click.
- After clicking on an ad unit, users must be able to return to MidlothianVA
by clicking on the browser's "back" button.
- Up to 50 characters of Alt Text are permitted.
- Third party serving of creative is permitted for approved vendors
only. If 3rd party serving is desired, please contact us to determine
if a particular vendor is acceptable.
- MidlothianVA reserves the right to reject any creative. * Simple
Rich Media is defined as: HTML formatting code (table tags, image
tags, fonts, etc.), Forms (text boxes, drop down menus, radio buttons,
etc.) Image Maps, JavaScript used in conjunction with HTML forms only
DECEPTIVE ADVERTISING POLICY
Ad creatives may not contain fake buttons, boxes, or downloading messages,
and ads may not use fake search boxes or pulldown menus.
PROHIBITED ADVERTISEMENTS
The Village of Midlothian Volunteer Coalition reserves the right to
reject an ad at any time for any reason, or no reason at all. The
following content is not permissible for advertisements on
MidlothianVA:
- Advertisements offering free services, such as free email, free
voicemail or free greetings;
- Advertisements redirecting users to personal homepages or free
homepage services;
- Advertisements promoting chat rooms, instant messaging products or
message boards;
- Advertisements containing "emblems of death" such as skull
&
crossbones, excluding Halloween banners during the appropriate season;
- Advertisements containing search boxes, real or otherwise;
- Advertisements requiring input of personal information (ex. name
and email address), such as contests or surveys; and
- Advertisements with sexual, substance, gambling, or violent
overtones
